Interview with Gian :
KN: What advice do you have for aspiring stylist?
GC: Keep inspiring people and know that the value of hard work comes with a reward, push forward for what you love and no one will make it happen for you but yourself and used every opportunity presented by taking it to the next level. Do what you love, when you do them so well you will make a very good impression.
KN: What methods help you to improve your creative vision so that a look won’t be repeated too often?
GC: There is really no specific method so that looks are not repeated too often, it really depends on what inspires me. When you do it so much and look at trends, you become aware of the direction your work will come together. Life inspires, it’s an ongoing change.
KN: How does fashion in Canada differ from fashion in The States?
GC: I live in a city where fashion is starting to make its mark, Fashion in Canada is definitely growing and catching up with a lot more on the European Market as to North American especially the East Coast. West Coast is very laid back, people are starting to be aware though.
KN: Since you have such an impressive fashion resume, is there anything you have not done that you would like to do regarding fashion?
GC: I would love to travel and be an international stylist, working for magazine, PR sky is the limit. I would love to have my own boutique or styling agency. The list can go on 🙂
KN: Is there a lot of pressure to be creative and innovative as a stylist?
GC: Yes, we always want to be current and relevant with all that is happening in the world. Putting our own stamp with designers’ collection and being trend setters adds a bit more of pressure. It’s just not as noticeable because we do what we love.
KN: What are some of the High-end and International retailers that you have worked for?
GC: I have worked for Tommy Hilfiger, BCBG, Max Azria, Max Mara, Burberry
KN: Are you in high demand as a stylist?
GC: I am still an up and coming stylist, but definitely have set mark in the industry where it’s very competitive and plenty of talented people around me.
KN: Are there any American designers that you would love to work with?
GC: I would love to work with Christian Siriano, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu , Tom Ford
KN: Describe the fashion culture in Vancouver?
GC: Eclectic, you will see very many different styles here, from hipsters, athletic, preps, glam, fashion forward, club kids, all walks of life for sure.
KN: Do you ever take a break from fashion?
GC: No, I don’t! I live, eat, and breathe Fashion. It’s what I love and what I know.
